Group lesson
Both of you standing in the same session. The wipeouts become the story you tell at dinner.
Day two
Private lesson
Shared and tailored: one charging, one learning is completely normal. The coach splits the difference.
In between
SUPs, walks, nothing
Kayak the estuary, wander the coast, or do gloriously little. Anniversaries, birthdays, a random June weekend: all valid.

Do we both need to surf?
No experience needed, and coaching meets each of you at your level. One charging, one starting out is completely normal; the private lesson is shared and tailored.
What exactly is included?
Your stay for two, one group surf lesson, one private lesson to split how you like, and unlimited surfboard, wetsuit, SUP and kayak hire for the whole stay. From $395 pp.
Which venue is more romantic?
Any pod or glamping teepee is your best bet for a romantic getaway: panoramic ocean views from a tranquil hillside. Mangawhai Surf Lodge suits couples who want village cafes on the doorstep and free bikes for the beach run.
Can we extend the stay?
Yes. Couples packages run 2, 3 or 5 nights, and you can add extra lessons at booking or roll it into a Surf Experience.
Is this giftable?
Very. Gift vouchers are available through aotearoasurf.co.nz if you are planning a surprise, or use the enquiry form.
What happens between lessons?
SUPs and kayaks on the estuary, coast walks, the water slide at Te Arai or village wandering at Mangawhai, or gloriously little. The gear is yours all stay, so dawn paddles count.
What is the cancellation policy?
14 or more days out: reschedule or refund. Under 14 days: reschedule or a 12 month credit. Under 7 days: no refund. 20 Dec to 20 Jan bookings are non refundable, however with notice a 12 month credit is available. Refund admin fee is 10% or $50, whichever is greater. Full terms are shown at checkout.
