Surf Tours
Two nights, five guided sessions, zero logistics. We read the banks, drive the coast and put you on the best waves within reach. You just paddle.
What $495 covers
We chase, you surf
Base camp is the teepee village at Mangawhai. Each morning the guides read the swell and pick the day's bank: Mangawhai bar, Te Arai's white sand peaks, Langs, Forestry, or a spot or two we would rather not put in writing. Every session is coached, filmed and reviewed, which is why people improve faster in one weekend here than a summer of solo paddling.
Tours are one product for everyone 14 and up. Half the van is usually adults and couples, the rest teens and parents. If you can lie on a board, you are qualified.
From the week before departure you get email updates on the surf, the weather and what to bring, and through the tour there are daily email updates with an online photo album, handy for the 14 year old's caregivers back home. Everyone leaves with a free photo package of their best waves.
Two days, five sessions, zero chores

What tour crews say
Truly a life-changing experience. As someone who is not a strong swimmer I had a lot of doubts before booking the Surf Tour, but I enjoyed every single minute. The environment was incredibly supportive.
Five stars is not enough. My friend and I joined the Surf Tour in our 30s and I totally recommend this to anyone, young or old!
Did the Surf Tour as an international student and the surfing was so good. Everything was organised, they even picked me up from the airport.
Surf Tours FAQ
Who are Surf Tours for?
Anyone 14 and up: adults, couples, mates, and families with teens. Especially popular with international students in NZ. One product, one price, every level coached.
I have never surfed. Should I still come?
Yes. Guides coach every session and pick banks to match the crew. First timers stand up on day one; experienced surfers get pushed onto better waves.
What is included in the $495?
Five professionally guided surf sessions, boards and wetsuits, glamping teepee accommodation, welcome dinner, return Auckland transport, a free photo package and video analysis, plus SUP, kayak and sandboarding gear.
Where do we actually surf?
Wherever is best that day. Guides read the swell each morning and pick from Mangawhai, Te Arai, Langs, Forestry and a couple of spots we keep off the internet.
How does transport work?
Return transport on the Aotearoa Surf bus is included from Auckland Airport, Auckland CBD, Albany or Warkworth. Fly in from anywhere in NZ and we handle the rest. Driving yourself is fine too.
What is the food situation?
The welcome dinner is included, then the camp kitchen is yours for easy self catering, with Mangawhai's cafes and takeaways minutes from basecamp. We stop at the supermarket for group supplies at the start of the tour.
What should I bring?
Togs, towels, a warm layer and evening clothes for the village. Everything surf related is supplied, and your update emails the week before departure include a reminder list.
What is the cancellation policy?
21 or more days out: full refund or free reschedule. 7 or more days out: free reschedule. Full terms and conditions for your booking are shown at checkout.
